Writers tell the story of their lives by showing their lives. To do so requires introspection, yes, but it also requires technical expertise. In part two of “Finding Your Memoir,” Politics and Prose veteran instructor Michaele Weissman has created a new set of craft-oriented prompts designed to help students write scenes that illustrate where they come from, who they are and the nature of the challenges they have faced. The goal is to provide memoirists with new skills and a new way of approaching their own stories. Participants need not be actively working on a memoir, but experience writing or struggling to write first person material in a creative fashion is helpful.
While this class builds on the content of a previous class, no prior experience is necessary.
Coaching
Michaele coaches private writing clients eager to take their work to new levels. Several of her students have successfully published books.

…Michaele’s enthusiasm bubbled up and helped fill the room as she guided us to enter the world of written imagery. This in-love-with-the-world attitude, coupled with several original approaches to stimulate vulnerable writing…led all of us to work hard and feel comfortable sharing our work.
